JAKARTA (16 April 2015) – Modest Indonesia have targeted just a place in the semi-finals of the SEA Games after being drawn in the easier Group A following the official draw that was made yesterday.
Indonesia – who last won the ‘Mother of All Gold Medals’ back in 1991 – have been placed Group A against hosts Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia and the Philippines.
But as was pointed out by assistant coach Mustaqim, that while the overall target is the gold medal, it is better to concentrate on just winning one of two tickets to the final four.
“The fight in Group A is quite even. It’s definitely better than having to play Thailand at such an early stage,” said Mustaqim.
“The target is to win the gold medal but first and foremost, we have to make past the group stage. Don’t forget that we still have the hosts in our group.
“And also Myanmar and the other teams will not be easy to play against.”
Group B are champions Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei Darussalam and Timor Leste.
The first match will be played on 29 May 2015.
