JAKARTA (15 Jan 2012) – The Indonesia national Under-21 team will take on Korean club Ulsan Hyundai Mipo Dockyard FC in a friendly as part of their preparation for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) 2012 slated for 25 February to 5 March.
“The friendly has been arranged for either 9 or 11 February as the Ulsan Hyundai team will arrive into Jakarta on 7 February,” said Bob Hippy, the Indonesia national team coordinator.
“It is very likely that the game will be played outside of Jakarta as the grass at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium is still not 100%.”
Ulsan Hyundai, which is based in the city of Ulsan, was founded in 1988. They are playing in the Korean National League, which is a semi-professional division under the top flight of the K-League. They have won three National Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2011.
It has not been confirmed yet whether Ulsan Hyundai will be in Jakarta with their full squad.
“Training alone is not enough, so we are looking forward to this game against the Koreans. It will allow us to gauge the quality of our team and where we stand,” said Widodo Cahyono Putro, the chief coach of the Indonesia U21 team.
