JOGJAKARTA (8 Feb 2014) – The Indonesian national Under-19 team picked up their third win in the National Tour where this week they edged the Jogjakarta Under-21 team 3-2 at the Mandala Krida Stadium.
The team had beaten PSS Sleman 3-1 and also Persiba Bantul 2-0 previously.
Following the decision of coach Indra Sjafri to make wholesale changes to the squad, it affected the shape of the team somewhat which in turn led them to falling behind in the 19th minute when Martinus Novianto Ardi slammed home the lead for the homesters.
Martinus was again on target in the 42nd minute as Indonesia U19’s Reza Pahlevi then pulled a goal back two minutes later for Jogjakarta U21 to troop off confident on a 2-1 advantage.
The introduction of Dinan Yahdian Javier after the break gave the Indonesian U19 more bite and in the last ten minutes they duly fired in two goals – Ryuji Utomo (84th minute) and Septian David Maulana (87th minute) – for the hard fought victory.
