JAKARTA (22 July 2012) – Hosts Indonesia are following in the way of Malaysia for the Java Cup 2012 where they will be using a mostly Under-23 squad with a sprinkle of older players.
For the meet which is slated for 26-29 July 2012, Indonesia will take on Everton FC in the first game while Malaysia will play Galatasaray FC although the latest news from the Turkish champions indicated that they might not make the trip east due to the long flights from the current base.
“Since Malaysia are using their U23 side, we should also do the same,” said Bob Hippy, the Indonesia national team coordinator. ”Of course, we might also add a few older players.”
“We will call all players from the IPL (Indonesia Premier League) as well as those from the ISL (Indonesia Super League).”
