JAKARTA (27 July 2012) – Indonesia, the runners-up of the AFF Suzuki Cup two years ago, have lined up games against Spanish outfit Espanyol B and also 2010 World Cup side DPR Korea as part of their tune-up for the big event later in the year.
For the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, Indonesia have been placed in Group B of the meet against defending champions Malaysia, Singapore and also the runners-up team from the qualifiers in October.
“There are a total of six matches being planned and these are all fixed. So there will be no changes although there might be more games,” said Bob Hippy, the Indonesia national team coordinator.
The Indonesia national side under Nil Maizar will begin their preparation by taking on Valencia on 4 August 2012 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
After that, they will play Espanyol B on 5 September, DPR Korea on 8 September and then the Philippines on 15 September. All matches will be played at the same venue of the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Then, there will be the home and away games against Vietnam with the first leg on 22 September at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi before the return tie in Jakarta exactly a week later.
“We are working on several opportunities for games against national teams and club sides but for the moment, these six matches are confirmed,” added Bob.
