INDONESIA TO FACE MALAYSIA; VIETNAM TAKE ON OZ IN FUTSAL SEMI-FINALS

JAKARTA (23 Feb 2010) – Hosts Indonesia will take on Malaysia while Vietnam will play Australia in the semi-finals of the ASEAN zone qualifiers of the Asian Futsal Championships 2010 tomorrow at the Tennis Indoor Senayan in Jakarta.

The Indonesians emerged as the runners-up in Group A of the qualifiers following their 4-1 loss to Australia in their final group match while Malaysia won Group B after their 2-2 draw against Vietnam.

The Malaysians emerged tops courtesy of their better goal difference.

“We admit that Australia played better on the day. We lost the rhythm in the second half and the players seem to struggle against their physically superior opponents,” said Robby Hartono, the head coach for Indonesia.

“There’s still the semi-final to play for, so I hope that the players will recover from this defeat.”
