JAKARTA (4 Nov 2011) – Indonesia are stepping up their preparation for the qualifying round of the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship even though there are still some uncertainty when it will be played out.
The qualifying round of the AFC Championship was supposed to be held in Thailand on 26 November to 1 December 2011 but has been postponed due to the flooding in Bangkok.
“We are still waiting for the new schedule for the qualifiers,” said Yerico Umbas, the chairman of the PSSI Futsal Committee.
Indonesia are in Group A of the qualifiers against Thailand, Philippines and Myanmar while Group B are Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia.
Only three teams will earn tickets to the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship which will be held in the United Arab Emirates.
“We did well at the SEA Games even though we won only the bronze medal,” added Yericho. “And we should build from that for the future.”
