JAKARTA (11 May 2008) – The Indonesian national team are intensifying their training programme with more tactical and technical work as they prepare to German giants Bayern Munich on 21 May 2008.
Coach Benny Dollo said ahead of the match that will be played at the Stadium Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, that the team need to play at a faster rate as they faced up to playing against a side which is well-known for their physical attributes. “All our training programmes at the moment are geared towards this one match against Bayern. We know that this German team emphasise play to their physical size and that is why we impressed on the players not to allow Bayern to cross the ball into our penalty box – that will be too dangerous for the defence,” said Benny. Benny added that the side which will be captained by the inspirational Ponaryo Astaman, will have to play to their strength which means that they have to be quick in the attack as well as in defence. “I want the players to be in peak performance by the time the match begins. The players have been instructed not to hold on to the ball for too long,” added Benny. “The team have been doing a lot of physical work and at the moment, they are still recovering.” In the meantime, Mohd Ridwan, Hariono and Suwita Patha are still fighting hard to get full fitness in time for the Bayern game. |
