SOLO (8 Sept 2016) – Indonesia are not about to get carried away following their easy 3-0 win over Malaysia this week as they look to improve even further ahead of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 later this November.
Being placed in the Group of Death alongside defending champions Thailand, hosts the Philippines and four-times ASEAN champions Singapore, the Indonesians realised only too well the challenges that lie ahead in their Group A.
And this week, Indonesia took a big step towards moulding a capable squad when they demolished Malaysia off goals from Boaz Solossa and Irfan Bachdim.
But as assistant coach Wolfgang Pikal pointed out, there’s still a lot of work to be done.
“We still have a lot of work to be done,” said Pikal. “Among the areas which we need to improve would be fitness, team compactness and also controlling tempo.”
