JAKARTA (31 March, 2008) – Indonesia will join Malaysia in the final round of the AFC Futsal Championship which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 11-18 May 2008.
The Indonesians who had faltered to a 4-2 loss to Macau in their opening game of the AFC Futsal qualifiers bounced back to beat Asean neighbours Brunei 10-1 and then Qatar 6-1. In the crucial final group match last night, Indonesia made sure that they end at the top of Group B when they beat Kuwait 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming off Ahmad Syaibani at the Matsushita Sports Complex in Malaysia. In spite of the loss, Kuwait still made the final round of the AFC Futsal meet as the second best team in the group. “It was all down to team work and I must say that I am proud of the players for coming back into the qualifiers after falling behind in the first match,” said Justin Lhaksana, the head coach for Indonesia.
