JAKARTA (31 July 2009) – Indonesia face some tough hurdles ahead in the ASEAN zone of the qualifying round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship 2010 when they found themselves being placed in the same Group A with Australia.
The other teams in Group A are Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar while Group B are Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines. The ASEAN zone of the qualifying round of the AFC Futsal Championship 2010 will be played out in Jakarta beginning from 13-18 February 2010. Only the top three teams in the ASEAN zone qualifying round will earn tickets to the final round of the AFC Futsal Championship 2010 which will be held in Uzbekistan. Thus far, only four teams have confirmed their place for the Uzbekistan meet where apart from the hosts, are defending champions Iran, 2008 runners-up Thailand and 2008 third-placed team Japan. But while Japan will still play in the East Zone qualifiers, their points will not be taken into consideration as they have already qualified for the tournament proper. 2010 AFC FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING ROUNDS EAST ZONE WEST ZONE ASEAN ZONE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ZONE |
