JAKARTA (25 Oct 2009) – The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have cancelled their planned friendly against Iran in Teheran and have instead drawn up a match against Singapore on 2 Nov instead.
Initially, the Indonesian national team were supposed to take on Iran on 7 Nov 2009 as part of their preparations for the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers. “Currently, Iran are in the middle of their domestic competition, and we found it difficult to arrange a friendly match with them,” said PSSI general secretary Nugraha Besoes. “So Singapore have been chosen instead, and they have accepted our offer. So, we confirm that the senior side will play Singapore in a friendly match on 2 Nov.” The match has been scheduled to take place at the Singapore National Stadium with the time yet to be determined. After the match, the Indonesians will return to Jakarta before departing for Kuwait on 6 Nov. Their qualifying match in Kuwait City will be on 14 Nov before the return tie at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium four days later. The remaining qualifiers are at home against Oman on 6 Jan and then against Group B leaders Australia in Brisbane on 3 March. Indonesia are currently at the bottom of the group with two points from two matches while Australia and Oman are tied at the top with four points from three matches. |
