JAKARTA (4 June 2012) – Even with minimum preparation, Indonesia are still confident that they can beat Philippines, the losing semi-finalists of the last edition of the AFF Suzuki Cup, when the two sides clash tomorrow evening in Manila.
Notwithstanding the result that the Philippines scored against the reigning ASEAN champions Malaysia when they held the latter to a scoreless draw just last week, Indonesian team manager Ramadhan Pohan, said that there is no reason why they can’t score against a side with multiple ‘imports’.
“We must win,” said Ramadhan. “There is no such as impossible. Even Inter Milan with players that came from Brazil, Argentina and elsewhere, we still managed to score against them,” quipped Ramadhan.
“Yes the Philippines are a strong side and they have many players from England and Germany but they still lacked a certain something.”
Added chief coach Nil Maizar: “we are optimistic that we can win even though we did not have the preparation that we would have liked. “
