SINGAPORE (29 October 2024) – The penultimate stop on the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour will take place in Jakarta on Saturday with Indonesia national team head coach Shin Tae-yong in attendance as the prized trophy continues its journey around Southeast Asia.
Coach Shin will be joined by former national team defender Ryuji Utomo at the latest Trophy Tour stop, which will take place at the Atrium F1 of fx Sudirman from 11am to 5pm on Saturday.
Entry for the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour is free and open to the public with passes for exclusive Meet & Greet sessions available to be won via the ASEAN United FC official website and social media platforms.
Fans attending the Trophy Tour will also have the opportunity to win exclusive ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 merchandise at games booths as well as witness on-site performances and take photographs with the prestigious trophy.
Also on Saturday, Mitsubishi Electric in conjunction with the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour are proud to announce that legendary coach Takeshi Okada, who led Japan at the FIFA World Cup in 1998 and 2010, will make a special appearance at a football clinic for aspiring young footballers.
The clinic will be held at Gelora Bung Karno Football Field C from 10am to 12.30pm (local time) and will feature lessons and mini games using the “Okada” method devised by the highly respected coach, who also won the J.League title with Yokohama F Marinos in 2003 and 2004.
The Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 Trophy Tour has previously stopped in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi and will make its final stop in Manila on November 9.
The Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ is the region’s leading football event and the competition returns for its 15th edition in December, with Indonesia aiming to win the title for the first time having finished as runners-up on a record six occasions.
In the 28 years since its creation, the event has grown from a two week-long centralised tournament into a competition that is currently played across the region over a six-week period in front of sold-out stadiums in Hanoi, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta and beyond.
The group phase of the 2024 edition of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 kicks off on December 8 with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and playoff winners Timor-Leste competing in Group A.
Group B, meanwhile, will feature Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos, with the top two finishers in each group advancing to the next round.
The semi-finals will be played on a home-and-away basis on December 26-27 and 29-30 with the final on January 2 and 5.
