JAKARTA (4 Nov 2008) – The Indonesia national team officially began their preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 in Jakarta yesterday.
Indonesia are one of the hosts for this year’s meet where they will be entertaining defending champions Singapore, Myanmar and Cambodia in their Group A. Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 will have hosts Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Laos. Up to the end of yesterday evening, only three players turned up for some light jogging and they are T. Musafry from Persiba Balikpapan, Ellie Aiboy from PSMS Medan and Dian Agus Prasetyo from Pelita Jaya. For Musafry from Persiba, this is the first time that the striker has been called for centralised training and it was quite obvious that he was excited with the prospect. The three players concerned did some jogging alongside national coach Benny Dollo and his assistant Widodo C Puto afterwards. They will begin their two-session training today at Senayan as they gear up for the Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 in Myanmar in the middle of the month. In the meantime, the Indonesia national team have been placed in Group A of the Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 against hosts Myanmar and Bangladesh. They will open their campaign against Bangladesh on 13 Nov, 2008 before taking on the hosts two days later. Group B are Asean neighbours Malaysia, the Vietnam Olympic squad and Hyundai FC from South Korea.
