JAKARTA (22 June 2010) – The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have begun making Futsal preparations for the SEA Games which the country will be hosting in 2011.
Following from the instructions from KONI (the Indonesia Olympic Council), the PSSI are looking at the formation of the men and the women’s Futsal team for the biennial multi-games championships. But while forming the men’s team should not pose to be much of a problem considering they are the current ASEAN champions and who were ranked ninth in Asia recently, the women’s Futsal team will require more work. “There’s no doubt as to the strength of the men’s team and I believe that the majority will still make the squad for the SEA Games next year,” said Gusti Randa, the head of PSSI national team management. “The coaches just need to look at strengthening the team if there are quality players out there. Otherwise, I believe that they are quite capable of delivering the gold medal to Indonesia in Futsal.” Towards ensuring that the Indonesia national Futsal squad get the best available players, a talent scouting panel has been formed where their main priority would be to sift through players at the Piala Futsal Indonesia 2010 and also the Liga Futsal Indonesia 2010. “We have plans to use a foreign coach for the men’s team. But at the moment, it is still in the discussion stage,” he added. As far as the women’s Futsal team is concerned, they will be selected from the university teams. |
