KUALA LUMPUR (12 Jan 2013) – Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, the president of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) said that he will not bow down to external pressure and relinquish his position as the top man with the national body.
The former president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and who is also the current president of the Asean Football Federation (AFF), said that as long as he is needed by the FAM, he will continue to serve.
“We cannot stop people from forming opinions as after all, Malaysia is a democratic country. But for me as long as the FAM want me, I will be there to serve them as the president,” said Sultan Ahmad.
He said that the FAM will have an Exco meeting next week to discuss issues as to how they can further improve and raise the standard of the Malaysian national team.
“We have to improve the ranking of the national team,” he added.
