HUYNH DUC AND VAN SY JOIN CALISTO

Former internationals Huynh Duc and Van Sy had this year led their clubs Da Nang and Ninh Binh to the V-League and First Division championships respectively.

“I did not choose Huynh Duc and Sy base on their performance in leading Da Nang to the V-League or Ninh Binh’s First Division
Championship, I had wanted these young coaches as my assistants a long time ago,” said Calisto (pix).

The duo will oversee the national squad while Calisto is busy with the preparation of the Vietnam national Under-23 squad for the SEA Games in Laos at the end of the year.

The national squad will convene in late 2009 to prepare for the qualifying round of the Asian Cup 2011.

They will group up in Ho Chi Minh City on 1 October 2009 to prepare for the HCM City International Football Cup from 20-24 October 2009.

They will then head to Hanoi for the first-leg match of the Asian Cup 2011 qualifiers against Syria at the My Dinh Stadium on 14 November 2009.

A day later, the team will then head out to Syria to play the return tie on 18 November 2009.

Vietnam’s next match of the qualifiers will be against Lebanon on 1 January 2010 before the return tie in Hanoi on 6 January 2009.

The team will play the last qualifying match of the Asian Cup 2011 against China at the My Dinh stadium in Hanoi.
