SINGAPORE (21 Dec 2011) – Home United’s preparation for the new S-League season hit a bump this week with the revelation that star striker Valery Hiek has decided to leave the team to join Bangkok Glass in the Thai Premier League 2012 instead.
Hiek, who has been with Home United for the past four seasons, was an instrumental figure for the team having led them to the runners-up spot in the S-League 2011.
“I have been offered a two-year contract with Bangkok where at the moment, I’m just waiting for my visa,” said the 30-year-old Cameroonia.
“The offer from Bangkok Glass was just too good to pass up and I must admit that I’m excited at the prospect of playing in Thailand.”
However, Hiek admitted that he can never forget his playing years with Home United and did not discount the possibility of making a return to the island republic one day.
