PHNOM PENH (17 July 2012) – Defending champions Phnom Penh Crown FC fell to their biggest defeat of the season when they were pummelled 5-1 by Boueng Ket Rubber Field FC at the National Olympic Stadium this week.
But the game was anything but predictable as Phnom Penh were the more aggressive side as they grabbed the lead on ninth minute through Emmanuel Kwadwo Frimpong.
Phnom Penh then held out for long periods to protect their lead before Savy Set Soudy prised open the equaliser for Boueng Ket on 43rd minute.
From then on, Boung Ket never looked back as Keo Sokpheng then added a hat-trick with goals in the 45th, 60th and 90th minute as Nwakuna Friday in the 79th minute for the well-deserved victory.
With the win, Boueng Ket strengthened their position on fourth at the table with 21 points as Phnom Penh remained fifth with 17 points.
In the meantime, National Police failed to go top of the table when they could only pick up one point this week following their 1-1 draw against Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC.
Following the deadlock at the end of the first half, Ek Sopheap gave Kirivong the lead on 62nd minute before Omoraka Jole grabbed the equaliser on 78 minute.
