YANGON (30 March 2012) – Stefan Hansson, who had led the Myanmar national Under-23 side to the bronze medal at the SEA Games in Jakarta last year, has quit his post with the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF).
Hansson has vacated his position as the technical director with MFF and has decided to return to Vietnam.
“It is a misunderstanding between me and the federation,” Stefan Hansson told The Myanmar Times in an email.
Hansson took over the reins at Zayar Shwe Myay United FC (ZYSM) in 2009 as the chief coach with a contract supposed to run until 2014. He took the ZYSM to third place in the Myanmar National League 2011 season where he also reached the semi-finals of the MFF Max Cement Cup.
But in the second half of last year, he was roped in by the MFF to lead the Myanmar U23 side for their campaign at the SEA Games, leading them to the bronze medal following their 4-1 win over Vietnam.
Following the recent signing of South Korean Park Sung Hua as the new Myanmar national coach, Hansson was moved to the position of technical director.
