HANOI (14 May 2009) – In spite of the 1-1 draw against Vietnam Coal and Minerals in their final group match, Hanoi emerged as the champions of the National Women’s Football Championship for the second time in two years.
But Vietnam Coal and Mineral were the more determined of the two sides as they pushed hard from the very first whistle to produce a series of attacks. And their early pressure paid dividends when Hoai Thu slammed home the lead in the sixth minute of play. With the score at 1-0 to Vietnam Coal and Mineral’s advantage, Hanoi staged a fight back where off a quick counter attack in the 76th minute, international Do Thi Ngoc Cham found the equaliser after picking up a pass from Nguyen Thi Xuyen.
