HANOI (29 May 2014) – Defending champions Hanoi T&T kept within three points of V-League leader Becamex Binh Duong following their 2-0 win over Dong Nai this week.
But it took Hanoi T&T a fair bit of time to open up the cagey Dong Nai defence where it was not until the 40th minute that they managed to grab the opener when Hoang Vu Samson converted a penalty. Samson then doubled Hanoi’s advantage with a well-taken header, just a minute after the restart.
That goal allowed Samson to take the lead as the top scorer of the V-League with 17 goals in 11 games while for Hanoi, the victory has allowed them to pick up 26 points – three points behind leaders Becamex Binh Duong and second-placed Thanh Hoa.
Elsewhere, Dong Tam Long An beat Quang Ninh Coal 2-1 as Song Lam Nghe An battled to a 1-1 draw against SHB Da Nan. Hung Vuong An Giang were held to a 3-3 deadlock by Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
