HANOI (17 August 2010) – A scoreless draw against Navibank Saigon at the Hang Day Stadium was enough to give Hanoi T&T the V-League 2010 crown – with one match still to play for.
The one point gave Hanoi T&T a total of 46 points, four points ahead of second-placed Hai Phong. Hanoi were determined to win the crown in style and it did not take them long to surge forward where in the fifth minute, Gonzalo shot wide of Navibank’s post before their opponents replied in the 19th minute through Phan Thanh Van which went well over the crossbar. Three minutes left of the first half, Gonzalo’s strong shot was blocked by Phi Thuong as Christiano’s header was wide of the right post. Navibank were stronger in the second half and created some real chance through Da Silva and Van Lam. Gonzalo then had a one-on-one with keeper Santos denied while Hong Minh’s free-kick just did not find its intended target. “I am very happy and honoured that the team win V-League on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi,” said Hai Phong kept second place in the ranking with 42 points when they beat Nam Dinh 2-0 at Tu Do Stadium as 2009 champions Da Nang beat Thanh Hoa 4-2 at Thanh Hoa Stadium, Binh Duong lost to Dong Thap 2-4 at Binh Duong Stadium. Dong Tam Long An beat Hoa Phat Ha Noi 4-1 at Long An Stadium, Song Lam Nghe An were done by Hoang Anh Gia Lai 1-2 at Vinh Stadium, while Khanh Hoa crushed Ninh Binh 2-0 at Nha Trang Stadium. |
