HANOI (6 April 2009) – Hanoi will represent Vietnam in the AFC U14 Women Football Festival 2009 which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from 17-30 June 2009.
The tournament will see the participation of eight countries and they are Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and hosts Vietnam. Apart from the tournament proper, the AFC will also organise two training courses for female coaches and referees under the age of 25-years-old from 19-30 June as well as a conference for the head coaches of the eight women’s football teams from 22-23 June 2009. In the meantime, Vietnam Coal and Minerals hammered defending champions Hanoi 2-0 at the Thai Nguyen Stadium to take the top spot in the on-going Vietnam Women’s Championship 2009. Mai Lan scored the opener for Vietnam Coal and Minerals in the seventh minute before Nguyen Thi Hanh doubled the score at the half hour mark. The outright victory allowed Vietnam Coal and Minerals to pick up ten points from four matches while Hanoi slipped to second with nine points. In the meantime, Hoa Hop Hanoi picked up their first three points of the competition when they beat Phong Phu Ha Nam 3-0 at the Thai Nguyen Stadium. |
