HANOI (3 March 2012) – Hanoi T&T maintained their spot at the top of the Vietnam Super League following their 2-2 draw on the road against hosts Ninh Binh as defending champions Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) notched their sixth draw of the season against Hai Phong.
Hanoi T&T are at the top of the Vietnam Super League standings with 14 points as newly-promoted side Saigon FC kept up the pressure with just a point behind. Third is 2009 champions SHB Da Nang with 12 points.
In the other matches this week, Dong Thap held title contenders Binh Duong to a scoreless draw, thanks to some superb effort from custodian Buu Ngoc.
“The draw was a shame for us because we had lots of clear chances. Yet I must admit that goalie Buu Ngoc was excellent. Our players had several great shots but they were all stopped by Ngoc,” said Binh Duong chief coach Dang Tran Chinh.
Hanoi FC battled Da Nang to a 3-3 draw at the Hang Day Stadium as Hai Phong drew 2-2 with the defending champs Song Lam Nghe An at the Lach Tray Stadium.
Kien Giang fell to a 3-2 loss to Hoang Anh Gia Lai; Khanh Hoa drew Saigon FC at Khanh Hoa Stadium; and Navibank Saigon beat Thanh Hoa 2-0 at the Ho Chi Minh City’s Thong Nhat Stadium.
