HANOI (26 June 2019) – Hanoi whipped Thai Nguyen 5-0 in the fifth round of the Vietnam’s National Women’s Football Championship to keep the pressure at the top of the standings.
Hanoi opened account after just four minutes off a superb freekick from Nguyen Thị Hue.
Pham Hai Yen then doubled Hanoi’s advantage with a 28th minute header as she then finished the first half with her second and her team’s third just before the break.
With Thai Nguyen struggling, Hanoi then completed the rout off goals from Bui Thị Trang and Nguyen Kim Anh in the 60th and 64th minute respectively.
With this win, Hanoi have picked up ten points – the same as second leaders HCM City 1 and defending champions Phong Phu Ha Nam.
In the other match, HCM City I delivered a shocker when they edged defeated defending champions Phong Phu Ha Nam 2-1 to climb to the top of the table.
HCM City I took control right from the start but would soon found themselves trailing after just 15 minutes when Le Thu Thanh Houng gave Phong Phu Ha Nam the lead, making good on a pass from Vu Thị Thuy.
But HCM City I were not to be outdone as constant pressure saw Le Thị Thanh Lam conceding an own goal in the 59th minute.
Nguyen Thị Bich Thuy then fired in from distant right at the end to give HCM City I the win and the full points.
Earlier the same day, Son La lost to HCM City II 2-1.
