HANOI (5 April 2016) – Hanoi FC are seeking to change their club name to Saigon FC after making a recent move down south to Ho Cho Minh City from the capital.
“Many Hanoi FC shareholders are HCM City residents. They proposed that the club move to HCM City to be more easily managed and developed,” said Nguyen Giang Dong, the chairman of Hanoi FC.
“The club is not changing owners and the rights and duties of the club with the VFF, VPF, tournaments and related individuals and organizations are unchanged.”
The application for the name change is made to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and also the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF).
Following the move to HCM City, the club will now play all their home fixtures at the Thong Nhat Stadium.
Hanoi FC won the National First Division Football Tournament last year and were promoted to play in the V.League.
