HAIPHONG IN DEVASTATING FORM; SAIGON PORT KEEP CHASE

HANOI (2 May 2008) – A devastating form at home gave Haiphong an impressive 4-0 win over the visiting Da Nang as the port city club maintained their position at the top of the V-League for yet another week.

Import Elenildo was on target with the opener for Haiphong in the sixth minute before Leandro added the second goal of the afternoon in the 20th minute.

Two further goals within the space of just three minutes from Van Thanh (75th minute) and Ngoc Quang (77th minute) guaranteed Haiphong the points as they perched themselves at the top of the standings with 26 points.

But the biggest winner on the day belonged to Saigon Port whose 3-1 win over Thanh Hoa saw them improving from fifth to second place at the standings.

In the fiery clash between two-time champions Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Dong Tam Long An, the tie ended in a pulsating 3-3 draw.

But it was Dong Tam Long An who went in front with a 3-1 lead until Agostinho and Minh Nghia salvaged the one point for the homesters with goals in the 68th and 80th minute respectively.
