HANOI (8 July 2012) – Former champions Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) took over the spot in the V-League this weekend following their slim 1-0 win over Hai Phong.
The only goal of the game in the match that was played in Pleiku came off Khuat Huu Long in the 54th minute for HAGL to pick up 27 points from 15 matches played so far.
Just a point behind was former leaders Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) who this week were held to a 1-1 draw by Ninh Binh.
SLNA showed that while they may have the lion’s share of the possession, their inability to convert them into goals forced them into sharing the points.
Veteran striker Le Cong Vinh opened account in the 23rd minute before Ninh Binh forced the game into tie following a penalty from Dinh Van Ta in the 36th minute.
Elsewhere, Hanoi T&T beat Xuan Thanh Sai Gon 2-0, Da Nang being held scoreless by Dong Nai as bottom-placed Dong Tam Long An fell further with a 3-0 beating at the hands of Becamex Binh Duong and Thanh Hoa thrashing Kien Giang 4-2.
