HO CHI MINH CITY (6 Jan 2009) – Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC have made an official offer for Vietnamese-American striker Lee Nguyen for their upcoming challenge in the V-League 2009.
Doan Nguyen Duc, the chairman of Hoang Anh Gia Lai said that the club is attempting to secure a long-term contract with Lee for a monthly salary of around USD 10,000. “Lee is considering our offer on salary and bonus, but we are confident up to 99% that he will play for Hoang Anh Gia Lai this year,” said Nguyen Duc. “If the negotiation is successful, the contract will be signed in Ho Chi Minh City. At that time we will officially announce further details of the contract although I can currently disclose what we are offering him is for three years.” In the meantime, Nguyen Duc denied that Hoang Anh Gia Lai has made an offer of USD 41,100 to Lee saying that under the current economic situation, it is difficult to pay players that much. The former V-League champions are preparing to stage fresh onslaught for the 2009 V-League title where they have signed two other Brazilian players to add to the one they already have. HAGL also have Thai captain Datsakorn Thonglao in their payroll while they have submitted applications for Vietnamese citizenship for two Thai players – Nirut and Sakda. |
