HAGL AT BOTTOM OF GROUP D QUALIFIERS

HANOI (11 June 2008) – Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) found the National Under 21 Championship qualifying round a little harder to crack as they languished at the bottom of Group D at the end of the second match day.

A home 1-1 draw against Tay Ninh did not help their cause following their shock 3-1 loss to Dong Nai on the first match day as HAGL head to an uncertain future for the tournament proper.

In the other matches in Group D, Saigon Port stole to an important 1-0 victory over Dong Nai with the only goal struck by Dang Ngoc Tung in the 53rd minute.

Tay Ninh and Saigon Port are now tied at the top of Group D with four points each after two matches to be followed by Dong Nai with three points.

In Group F, Ca Mau won 2-1 against Tien Giang while Can Tho crushed Kien Giang 5-0 while An Giang took a slim 1-0 victory against Dong Thap.
