YANGON (8 August 2014) – The second event to publicise the Myanmar Football Federation’s Grassroots Football Festival Plans has been hailed a resounding success.
A total of 1200 children recently took part in the MFF AYA Bank Football Festival 2014, which was sponsored by Ayeyarwady Bank and hosted by the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF). The event was staged on the MFF’s new artificial pitches and attended by students from different regions of Yangon Division.
MFF President Zaw Zaw, Union Minister for Sport, Tint San, Chief Minister of the Yangon Division Government, Myint Swe and Min Zaw, Managing Director of the Department of Basic Education-3 (DBE-3) made welcome speeches during the festival’s opening ceremony and congratulated those attending for their participation.
The Ayeyarwady Foundation, founded by President Zaw Zaw, also donated new artificial turf and one ambulance to the MFF.
The festival was aimed at popularising football and healthy lifestyles under the MFF’s Grassroots Football Plans and FIFA 11 For Health Programme.
In total, six Grassroots Football Festival Plans will be held this year.
