SINGAPORE (15 Aug 2011) – Former champions Geylang United strengthened their position in the top half of the S-League with a slim 1-0 win over Courts Young Lions at the Bedok Stadium.
Kim Jae Hong was the toast for Geylang on 34 minute as he knocked in a floater from Hafiz Rahim from the left for the only goal in the game for both teams to share the spoils.
The victory over the Singapore youngsters had in some measure gave a certain sense of satisfaction to Geylang following their midweek defeat to Home United.
“I’m happy with the performance, but we did not play as well as in our last few games,” said Mike Wong, the chief coach of Geyland United.
“The important thing today is that we’ve passed the 30-point mark, which we wanted to try to do. The next target is 40 points; if we can hit that, we’ll be quite close to where we were last year.”
