DILI (16 Feb 2014) – Twenty-six futsal referees including two from sister confederation UEFA got more empowerment for this year’s duty as they began their AFC Futsal Referees Course in the Malaysian capital on Thursday.
Consultant to the AFC Referees Committee General Farouk Bozuo officially opened the course which is held under the umbrella of the ongoing AFC Refereeing Seminar 2014.
The course covers various theoretical topics such as amendments to the laws of the game, analysis of match incidents and match restart management as well as practical exercises on physical preparations, maintaining fitness and injury prevention.
Speaking in his opening remarks, General Bouzo said: “The objective of this course is to increase the standard of futsal referees in the continent and to help you achieve this, we are fortunate to have top instructors from the AFC and FIFA.
“It’s also important that the decisions made by our futsal referees are unified and correct and this will be one of the focuses of this course.
“Therefore, I’d like you to give your best during the four days of this programme and hope you’ll excel in your officiating whether in your national league or in the continent.”
The course is instructed by FIFA/AFC Futsal Referees Instructor Yasuhiro Matsuzaki of Japan and FIFA/UEFA Futsal Referees Instructor from Spain Pedro Galan Nieto.
