BANGKOK (4 July 2017) – It was perhaps fitting that the final game in Group A tomorrow of the AFF Futsal Club Invitational Championship would be between Pyay United of Myanmar and Permata Indah of Indonesia – the two teams still on the chase for a place in the next round.
With Thaiport FC already into the semi-finals of the tournament this year following their back to back wins in the group for the full six points, the remaining slot from the group will be a square fight between Pyay United and Permata Indah.
Both teams had already conceded losses to Thaiport with Permata Indah going down 4-1 on the first day yesterday and then Pyay United losing 4-0 this evening.
And with both Pyay United and Permata Indah having picked up the full three points against debutant Shah United of Brunei, the game tomorrow will be decisive and where it will decide which team will make the cut to the final four this year.
Currently, Pyay United are on second at the table with better goal difference and tomorrow, they will just need a draw to make the grade while Permata Indah would have to pull out all the stop for the win.
But today, Pyay United showed a lot of heart against Thaiport where even though they fell to a quick goal off Watchara Laisri just ten seconds into the game, they recovered to fend off for long period well into the second half.
Their continued frustration of Thaiport finally broke apart when the defending champions went on a four minute blitz to ensure their second win of the meet – much to Pyay United’s disappointment.
Captain Warin Romanee toe poked in a corner in the 32nd minute as Chaivat Jamgrajang and Thiago Mora de Oliveira then added two more goals in the 35th and 36th minute for the hard earned victory.
Thaiport will complete their fixture tomorrow against Shah United who are already out of contention following their second loss to Permata Indah today.
Permata Indah were just too composed against Shah United as they romped to a 6-3 win.
Rico Zulkarnain was the star of the show with two goals (8th and 27th minute) as Berkenice Rumsarwir (7th minute), Eko Sutrisno (25th) and Ardiansyah (38th) scored the other goals.
Shah United’s goals were scored by Dennis Guna Bawana (3rd minute) and Anton Nugroho (23rd and 40th).
