BANGKOK (9 Feb 2012) – With player-coach Robbie Fowler ending his stint with Muang Thong United recently, the former Thai champions have gone on to sign Macedonian international Mario Yurovski for the new season.
Following what was really a disappointing season for the 2009 and 2010 champions, Muang Thong have increased their budget for the new 2012 Thai Premier League season by THB 100 million (USD 33,000).
Muang Thong United signed the Macedonian playmaker Yurovski from Ukrainian club FC Metalurh Donetsk.
“This signing has really surprised the European transfer market because this player has drawn the interest of many top clubs including Werder Bremen as well as several teams in Japan, Korea and China,” said Kilins’ general manager Ronnarit Suewaja. “But we will not be disclosing about the detail of his personal contract.”
Other than Yurovski, the Nonthaburi-based club has also signed Dutch winger Adnan Barakat and former TOT SC striker Kone Mohammed.
Having ended the 2011 season without a single silverware for the first time in five seasons, Muang Thong have yet to name a new coach to replace Fowler.
