JAKARTA (6 Oct 2010) – The Indonesia national team management will be inviting four Dutch-based players to feature for Indonesia – at the earliest when they take on FIFA World Cup semi-finalist Uruguay in two days or against Maldives later this month.
The four players, who are playing their football in Holland, have at least one parent of Indonesian descent, and they were invited following the recent trip there by PSSI general secretary Nugraja Besoes, Indonesia national coach Alfred Riedl and also national team management chief Iman Arif. The four players who have been invited are Jhonny Rudolf van Beukering (Go Ahead Eagels), Sergio Van Dijk (Adelaide United FC), Rafael Guillermo Eduardo Maitimo (FC BIT China) dan Jeffry de Vischer (FC Emmen). “There are around 51 registered players of Indonesian descent playing all over the world. Around 46 players are playing in Holland, the remainder either plays in Cyprus, Belgium, China or Australia. But so far, only the four players which we have named have shown interest in wanting to play for Indonesia,” said Nugraha. “We have forwarded the necessary papers to FIFA and also to KNVB (Dutch FA), so the process has already started.” Indonesia will be playing hosts to one group of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 in December this year. |
