YANGON (31 Oct 2008) – Four teams from Asean including hosts Myanmar will challenge for honours at the Grand Royal Challenge Cup 2008 which will be held in Yangon on 11-21 October, 2008.
The Indonesian national team, Malaysia and the Vietnam Olympic team will be part of the six-team tournament alongside Myanmar, the Bangladesh national team and Hyundai FC from South Korea. The six teams will be divided into two groups with the top two from each group advancing into the semi-finals. Myanmar, Indonesia and Malaysia are using this tournament as their final tune-up for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 which will be held in Thailand and Indonesia in December. The champions of the Grand Royal Challenge Cup stand to win USD 15,000 while the runners-up will walk away with USD 7,500.
