SENTUL (26 March 2012) – Aiming to produce more world-class football stars such as Lionel Messi, Barcelona FC have started the construction of a full residential soccer school in Sentul, West Java.
The school said that FCB Escola Indonesia would apply the values of La Masia, the club’s soccer school in Barcelona.
“The concept is unique and Masia is located in Barcelona, but their values are universal and transmitted internationally through FCB Escola. It is a long process, which takes great care of detail in the development of the sports and humanity of the players,” FCB Escola director Xevi Marce said in a statement to Jakarta Post.
Barcelona chief marketing officer Laurent Colette said that with the cornerstone-laying ceremony in Sentul, the club pledged to develop Indonesian soceer.
“We will sow the seeds, we will water them and when the tree grows we will take care of it.”
