YANGON (19 Feb 2014) – Two penalties from Edison Fonseca gave Yadanarbon FC a hard-earned 2-1 win over Zwekapin United for them to go top of the Myanmar National League 2014.
Trailing by a goal as early as the 11th minute when Takamatsu Kentaro put Zwekapin in front, the visiting Yadanarbon side did not lose shape as they pressed hard early in the second half to earn a penalty.
Fonseca converted the first penalty for Yadanarbon just three minutes after the restart before nailing the winner in the 72nd minute of play.
Yadanarbon had earlier beaten Chin United 1-0 in their first game of the season before picking up their second win with a similar 1-0 victory over Ayeyawady United.
The goalscorer on both occassion was Fonseca.
In the meantime, defending champions Yangon United roasted Zeyar Shwe Myay 6-1 with Cesar Augusto scoring four goals. The win was Yangon’s second in three matches after beating Manaw Myay 2-1 and then drawing Kanbawza 1-1.
