BANGKOK (20 Feb 2011) – Chonburi FC got the start they wanted in the Thai Premier League when they overcame Port FC 2-0 at the Chonburi Stadium.
International striker Pipob On-mo gave the hosts the lead just two minutes into the game with an effort from close range.
Chonburi piled on the pressure through Therdsak Chaiman and Ekaphan Inthasen but Port shored up their defence to restrict the score to just 1-0 at the break.
Port came out stronger in the second half with Jeerawat Makkrarom’s rifling shot which was denied by Chonburi’s Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool between the posts.
With Suttinun Phukhom and Chonlatit Jantakam marshalling the backline for Chonburi, they then grabbed their second goal of the afternoon in the 72nd minute off a free-kick from dead ball specialist Therdsak which Kazuto Kushita rebounded in for the two-goal win.
In the only other game of the day, Si Sa Ket FC were held to a 1-1 draw at home by the Navy FC with the sailors taking the lead on 35 minutes off Anuwat Sorncha.
Ten minutes later, Si Sa Ket equalised through a rebounder from Piyawat Thongmaen.
