PHNOM PENH (16 Jan 2012) – Following several weeks of non-stop action in the preliminary round of the 6th Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Tech Hun Sen Cup, five teams have confirmed their participation in the final rounds of the championship this year.
For this year, the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) have decided to have the preliminary round of the meet divided into five regions so as to ensure that teams from the Metfone C-League – who will be waiting in the final rounds of the meet – do not have it easy against lesser strength opponents.
And following the kick-off on 7 January, the five teams which have confirmed their place in the final rounds after emerging as group winners are Kampong Cham, Boengket (Eastern Region), Preah Vihear (Central Region), Pailin (Western Region), Koh Kong (Southern Region), Stung Treng (Northern Region).
The five teams – Kampot, Battambang, Kratie, Siem Reap, Svay Rieng – which emerged as runners-up in each group are now currently involved in a play-off with the winning side gaining the final ticket from the qualifiers to the next round.
