MANILA (15 Feb 2016) – Injury-ravaged Loyola Meralco Sparks scored their first win of the United Football League 2016 season when they beat Pasargad 7-1 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The team under former Philippines national coach Simon McMenemy was a lot more determined following their season opening defeat to Ceres-La Salle the previous week.
Just 15 minutes in, new signing Alvaro Castiella lunged in the opener off a one-to-one as Tahj Minniecon then took turns to punish the fragile Pasargad backline as they trooped off 4-1 in front at the half.
Loyola continued very much in the same vein into the second half as Castiella and also Minniecon adding up the tally before James Younghusband joined in the roasting Pasargad would rather forget.
