BANGKOK (15 March 2011) – Muang Thong United scored their first win of the Thai Premier League (TPL) 2011 season under new chief coach Henrique Calisto when they beat Thai Port FC 2-0 at the Yamaha Stadium.
Muang Thong were determined to put on a good show for the newly-appointed coach although it took a red card on Thai Port defender Mongkol Namnuad in the second half to give the homesters the edge.
The defending champions struck their first goal in the 86th minute when Teerasil Dangda squared from the right for substitute Dagno Siaka to struck with a fine overhead kick.
Teerasil then slammed the second goal for Muang Thong not too long afterwards to guarantee them the full three points.
But while Muang Thong jubilate, former champions Chonburi move up to the top of the table with a 6-0 thrashing of TOT SC as Buriram PEA won 2-0 on the road to Khon Kaen.
Therdsak Chaiman led the rout for the Sharks with two goals (6th and 33rd minute) while also on target were Adul Lasoh (17th), Chonlatit Jantakam (21st), Kushida (53rd) and Berlang (55th).
On the other hand, Buriram had two goals from Suchao Nutnum (34th minute) and Teerathorn Bunmathan (74th) to thank for their win over Khon Kaen to move into third at the table.
At the Thephatsadin Stadium, hosts BEC Tero Sasana collected their second win of the season with a 2-0 defeat of Navy FC 2-0, while at the Leo Stadium, Bangkok Glass drew 1-1 against this season’s surprise team Army United who hold second place.
In Chonburi, Pattaya United were held to a goalless draw against Osotspa M-150 Saraburi, while Insee Police United defeated the TTM FC Phichit 1-0.
At Si Nakhon Lumduan stadium, Si Sa Ket FC drew 1-1 with Sri Racha FC while Chiang Rai United drew 0-0 against the SCG Samut Songkhram FC.
