PHNOM PENH (24 Feb 2014) – Phnom Penh Crown might have fallen to their first defeat of the season on the weekend but it failed to move them out of the top spot of the Metfone Cambodia League 2014.
And who else to dent Phnom Penh’s confidence than former champions Boeung Ket Rubber Field when they struck late to score a 3-1 win at the National Olympic Stadium.
A red card on Phnom Penh defender Odion Obadin would give the advantage to Boung Ket as they grabbed the lead just before the break off Khoun Laboravy.
However, their lead did not last long as Phnom Penh were quick to pounce in the equaliser off a fabulous overhead kick from Newton Katanha.
But Boeung Ket were not about to give up their numerical advantage as defender Chukwuma Ohuruogu then poked in a scramble as Laboravy then completed his brace in the closing stages of the game.
Elsewhere, Naga Corp beat Albirex Niigata 2-0 to move up to second in the standings with import Barry Alpha Oumar scoring both goals.
Ministry of National Defense beat Svay Rieng 3-1, Build Bright United beat Western University 2-0 while Kirivong Sok Sen Chey were held to a 1-1 draw by Asia Europe University.
