HANOI (26 Jan 2015) – As defending champions Becamex Binh Duong fell to their first defeat of the season to Quang Ninh Coal, it allowed Hai Phong to go top of the Toyota V.League 1 after beating Can Tho 4-2 at home.
Binh Duong, who have won their first four matches of the new season, just can’t seem to get things right at home at the Go Dau Stadium when they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Quang Ninh.
After Vietnamese international striker Mac Hong Quan rung the crossbar with a superb effort in the first half, Quang Ninh rightly slammed in a double from Nguyen Quang Hai within the first five minutes of the restart.
Binh Duong’s only goal of the game came off Mai Tien Thanh right at the end.
In the meantime, Hai Phong moved up to the top of the standings after beating Can Tho 4-2 at home.
Errol Anthony Stevens grabbed a brace in between goals from Tran Duc Duong and Andre Diego Fagan as Can Tho replied off a double of their own from Le Van Thang.
Elsewhere, Hoang Anh Gia Lai edged SHB Da Nang 1-0 as Thanh Hoa beat title favourites Hanoi T&T 2-1; Quang Nam edged Dong Nai 3-1, Dong Tam Long An blasted Dong Thap 3-0 and Sanna Khanh Hoa drew with Song Lam Nghe An 2-2.
