DECEMBER 22, 2006 (SINGAPORE): Fullback Hafiz Osman has earned his first international call-up for Singapore ahead of their challenge for the 37th King¡¯s Cup which will be held in Bangkok from Dec 24-30.
Head coach Radojko Avramovic has called on the SAFFC defender following the latter¡¯s confident performance at the recent Asian Games for the national Under-23 side. Apart from the inclusion of the 22-year-old Hafiz, the Lions has also gave a recall to recovering veteran Indra Sahdan Daud as well as to Woodlands Wellington winger Sazali Salleh. The 26-year-old Sazali¡¯s last assignment was in the FIFA World Cup Qualifier while for Indra, it was his first call after struggling with a knee injury in the last six months. Apart from the King¡¯s Cup in Bangkok, the squad of 25 players are also being prepared for the Asean Football Championship, slated for Jan 12 ¨C Feb 3. Singapore will play Kazakhstan, Vietnam and hosts Thailand at the King¡¯s Cup while for the Asean Football Championship in January, they have been drawn in Group B with Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia .
