HANOI (17 June 2016) – A hat-trick from new signing Ivan Firer fired Becamex Binh Duong to a confident 5-3 win over Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the first-leg, quarter-finals of the Vietnam National Cup yesterday.
Nsi Amougou had given Binh Duong a dream start when he scored a brace within the first six minutes at the Go Dau Stadium as former Thanh Hoa frontman Firer found his midas touch for the three goals on a trot.
Binh Duong’s Nguyen Xuan Luan scored an own goal in the first half to give HAGL some respite as they then followed it up with two more goals off Nguyen Phong Hong Duy and Tran Minh Vuong.
In the other quarter-final matches, Nam Dinh held Hanoi T&T to a 0-0 draw at the Thien Truong Stadium as hosts Hai Phon were also held at home to a 1-1 draw by Quảng Nam at the Lạch Tray Stadium.
Quang Ninh Coal were tied 1-1 by visiting Long An at their Cam Pha Stadium.
The second leg of the quarter-final matches of the Vietnam National Cup will be played on 29 June.
