BANGKOK (7 March 2010) – Thailand’s FA Cup champions Thai Port FC have been slapped with a fine of THB131,750 (USD4,100) and banned from playing at their PAT Stadium for three matches.
The FA of Thailand (FAT) decided on the punishments following Thai Port FC’s part in a scuffle which involved their fans during the King’s Trophy match at Supachalasai Stadium last month against Muang Thong United. Nine people were injured when Port fans clashed with Muang Thong United supporters which at the time saw the latter leading the match 2-0. “Apart from the fine and the ban, the ten fans that started the violence have also been barred from entering any stadium for one year,” said FAT vice president Pol Lt Gen Vorapong Chiewpreecha. Other than that, Port defender Pongpipat Kamnuan, who encouraged fans to cause trouble, faces a three-match suspension while coach Sasom and Muang Thong coach Rene Desaeyere, who were almost engaged in a fist fight, are banned from the touchline for three games. |
